A Lincoln man is hoping you can help him track down his award-winning car. It was stolen from a home near 42nd and Leighton.

It's not too often you see a showroom condition 1984 Monte Carlo SS cruising around the streets of Lincoln. Which is why police and the owner hope it turns up in one piece.

Out on the front porch, Jordan Gilmore and his young family swing, hoping for answers. Sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, his 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS was stolen. At first, Gilmore couldn't believe it.

"My girlfriend's brother came home and I thought he was joking. He asked me where my car was and I was like, 'It's outside,' and he said, 'no, it's not.'"

For Gilmore, it's more than just a car. He's spent the last 8 years working tirelessly to make it his. While it may be almost 30 years old, it only has 40,000 miles. It was enough to turn a lot of heads.

"I got comments on it everyday that I drove it," Gilmore said. "I get people giving me the thumbs up everyday and that made me happy and that's why I had a car like that. That's why I bought a car like that was for those reactions. Then, for somebody to go and take it, just like that...poof, gone."

It's that kind of attention why Gilmore keeps optimistic.

"I'm trying to stay calm about it. I don't want to get all emotional and I mean I'm hoping for the best. I hope they find it. I hope my car comes up somewhere, in tact, not in pieces. It'd be really nice to see my car again," Gilmore said.

So he's asking anyone with any information to let police know. If you have a tip, call Crimestoppers at (402) 475-3600.

Gilmore says it's the only one of it's kind in Lincoln. So, it should be easy to spot, if it's still in the area.
