MCCOOK, Neb. (AP) _ A 44-year-old McCook man has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he sexually assaulted a resident at the Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Christopher Mehringer is scheduled to go to trial on Oct. 15. He faces a misdemeanor charge that says he had sexual contact with someone who was physically or mentally incapable of resisting.

Prosecutors say the incident occurred in May when Mehringer worked at the Red Willow County-owned home.

Hillcrest says Mehringer left his job in late July. Mehringer also resigned from the McCook Fire Department where he was a volunteer. He has a license to work as an emergency medical tech.
