A man believed to be Nebraska's oldest active certified public accountant has given the University of Nebraska-Lincoln $1 million for a permanently endowed chair at UNL's College of Business Administration.
The university this week announced the gift from 92-year-old Delmar ``Del'' Lienemann Sr., of Lincoln.
The Delmar A. Lienemann Sr. Chair in Accounting will be awarded by the university to a faculty member in the School of Accountancy. Lienemann graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1941 and started his own accounting office in 1945 in downtown Lincoln. Lienemann continues to work from his office at the D.A. Lienemann CPA firm in Lincoln. He has been an active volunteer throughout his career, and is currently chairman of the Lincoln Symphony Foundation Board.
