Nebraska poet, storyteller and even rock sculptor. The late William Kloefkorn had a lot of titles during his life. Now, he's the namesake of the newest elementary school in town. Hundreds gathered Sunday to honor Kloefkorn and dedicate the school that has his name.
Students painted pictures of Kloefkorn, the choir performed and his family told stories about a man who loved bringing out the best in everyone.
"He was an amazing teacher. He had a huge developmental bias where he went through his entire life trying to get the most out of peoples' individual talents and that was his passion and he was darn good at it," Grandson Willie Kloefkorn said.
During his life, Kloefkorn published more than 30 collections of poetry, two collections of short fiction, four memoirs and even some Christmas stories. Kloefkorn elementary doors opened just last month. 326 students from kindergarten to fifth grade attend the school.
