Electric rates could be going up again for many Nebraskans.

The Nebraska Public Power District board will decide in November whether to approve the roughly 4% increase. The change would take effect in January.

The average customer would see about a $9 jump in their monthly bills. Officials say the increase is needed to cover costs.
