A Kansas woman has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of probation for a collision that killed a motorcyclist on Interstate 80 near Grand Island.
34-year-old Kathy Teichmeier, of Almena, Kan., was sentenced on Thursday in Hall County. She pleaded no contest to vehicular homicide in August. A charge of driving on a suspended license was dismissed.
The charges stem from a June 25 collision between Teichmeier's car and two motorcycles. Authorities say Teichmeier was driving east when she tried to make a U-turn. Her car clipped the rear wheel of a motorcycle driven by 60-year-old C. Lloyd Hermanson, of Lincoln. He avoided crashing. His wife, 58-year-old Nancy Hermanson, died after her motorcycle crashed into Teichmeier's car.
