A Lincoln man is facing serious charges after officials say he kidnapped a Waverly woman at knife point, then raped her for several hours.
Crimes like abduction and rape aren't too common in Waverly. According to Lancaster County Sheriff's officials, that's what 25 year old Frederick Johnson of Lincoln did Saturday morning. We spoke to one of his neighbors, who asked not to be identified.
"I was devastated. He's been in my house several times. He's been in a lot of my neighbors' houses. Didn't seem like the type of person that would do something like that," said the neighbor.
Authorities say Johnson knocked on the victim's door and asked to use her bathroom. They say she recognized him as a former employee of a convenience store nearby and she let him in.
Officials say he then pulled out a knife, ordered her to go with him, and took her to several open fields north of town. They say he then sexually assaulted her for five hours before dropping her off.
"She was not cut or injured that way other than from the assault. Bumps, bruises, and that type of thing. She was transported by ambulance to Lincoln and she was treated and released there," said Capt. Gary Juilfs.
Johnson also has a history of disturbing behavior. According to his rap sheet, he's been convicted of multiple violent offenses including assault, strangulation, and false imprisonment. Johnson was arrested early Sunday morning at an apartment complex near 43rd and Cornhusker. The neighbor we spoke with says he feels for the victim.
"I can just imagine how stressful it is for her and hope everything works out well for her," said the neighbor.
Johnson is facing multiple charges including kidnapping, first degree sexual assault, and the use of a weapon to commit a felony.
