The Nebraska Cornhusker football team still has two games left against two conference opponents, but for Husker fans, it's never too early to book conference championship travel plans.
Agents with the AAA Travel Agency say they've been flooded with calls from fans anticipating a Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis since last weekend's victory against Penn State.
"Husker fans are crazy like that," AAA Field Manager Marilyn Muir said.
It may be more convenient to go through an agent, but many fans choose to stick with the internet.
"Just be careful if you're doing it on the internet," Muir said. "Make sure you know who you're booking for and you know all of your cancellation policies. That's the biggest thing."
A quick search on the web site Stub Hub reveals nearly 2,500 tickets still available just on that site. Those tickets range in price from $60 to $995
As for flights, options are slim and pricey. Out of the Lincoln airport, the cheaper $400 fares include extensive layovers, sometimes in multiple cities. But, you can save on hotels.
"The hotels closer to the stadium will have a higher price to them," Muir said. "But if you're willing to drive 10-to-15 miles, you can save some money."
If that's too expensive, you can make the 1,300-mile round trip for a little less than $200 if you drive a fuel-efficient vehicle.
As for whether anyone is smelling roses yet?
"Oh yes," Muir said. "We've had quite a few people inquire about the Rose Bowl. They are on a waiting list as soon as we hear anything about the Rose Bowl."
