70 Christmas trees were loaded into a FedEx truck this morning in north Lincoln.

Spilker's Tree Farm donated some of them along with other Christmas tree growers in the area. They're now headed to a military base in Illinois. Army veteran, Donald Spilker says it's an honor to provide trees for the troops.

"If anybody's ever been in the service and away from Christmas at home, especially overseas, you never see a Christmas tree," Spilker said.

This is the eighth year for the Trees for Troops program. More than 100–thousand trees have been donated nationwide.
