Everett Smith died unexpectedly Tuesday. Irving students will remember him Thursday night at a vigil.
Students will remember the para-educator and intramural coach tonight by holding a candlelight vigil outside Irving Middle School at 22nd & Van Dorn. The vigil will begin at 7 p.m.
Everett's wife, Valarie, found him unresponsive Tuesday morning in their home. Irving Principal Hugh McDermott says it's been hard on everyone at the school this week who knew Everett. He says Everett was a "gentle giant" and will be missed.
Students were also encouraging each other to wear white on Friday to honor Smith. Smith was 51. He taught at Irving for more than 6 years.
