Nebraska will return to the Capital One Bowl and will be playing the Georgia Bulldogs, the bowl game announced Sunday afternoon. The Capital One Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) with national television coverage on ABC.
The Huskers will enter the game with a 10-3 record, following a Big Ten Championship game loss to Wisconsin on Saturday night. Nebraska has won nine or more games each of the past five seasons, one of only four schools in the country to win at least nine games each of the past five seasons. Nebraska is ranked 23rd in the Associated Press Poll and 21st in the USA Today Coaches poll heading into the contest.
Georgia makes its sixth appearance in the Capital One Bowl, its last coming in a 2009 victory over Michigan State. The Bulldogs won the SEC East for the second year in a row behind the play of junior QB Aaron Murray. The Tampa native leads the nation in yards per attempt (7.8) while ranking second in passer rating, throwing for 31 TDs against only eight interceptions.
The appearance in the Capital One Bowl will be Nebraska's third trip to the Orlando bowl game. The Huskers participated in the contest following the 1990 season against Georgia Tech. Last season, Nebraska took on South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl, falling 30-13 to the Gamecocks.
Tickets for the game are $87 and $92 and tickets will go on sale to the general public at 9 p.m. CT on Sunday night at Huskers.com. Nebraska will receive an allotment of 12,500 tickets for the game. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone beginning Monday morning by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-8-BIG RED.
