Last week, we told you about eight BB gun vandalism—and this weekend, the shooters were out in full force again.
Tonight, we have a bit of a positive twist.
"Nice people do exist," Meranda Sterns said.
Sterns woke up last week to her car window shattered. Hers was one of eight cars in the area of 30th and Starr to be shot by a BB gun.
Sterns said she's a single mom, and to have this happen in the holiday season was going to make buying presents for her kids difficult. Sunday, something unexpected happened.
"When I had just got home—knocked on the door and asked me if I was the person that got the window with the bb gun and I said yes—and then he handed me $150. I was so surprised because, you know, you don't really expect it from no one," Sterns said.
Today, we delivered another $100 check from a Channel 8 viewer who wanted to pay it forward.
"Thank you for this check—whoever gave it to me, I'm surprised that you gave it to me. God bless you," Sterns said.
While there are people out there helping others in the time of giving, someone is still on a spree with their BB gun.
Police said, over the weekend, almost 20 house and car windows were hit in northeast Lincoln. All but one happened east of 27th Street, between Vine and Cornhusker.
This weekend's shootings total almost $5,000 in damage.
There aren't any witnesses to the vandalisms but police say there was one suspicious incident Sunday.
The passenger of a 2000 green Ford Explorer was seen firing a pellet gun outside the vehicle," Officer Katie Flood said.
Police say this could be related to the dozens of shootings over the last week.
If anyone has seen anything going on or has any information, they're encouraged to call crimestoppers at 402-475-3600.
