Dozens of people turned out for a book reading to see the author who wrote the story of the defense of Caril Ann Fugate.
Many are probably familiar with the Charles Starkweather murders in 1958. This January marks the 55th anniversary of the crime spree.
Author of "Pro Bono," Jeff McArthur, is the grandson of the attorney to Caril Fugate. She was given life in prison for her suspected involvement with Starkweather.
"He just believed so strongly in her innocence that he remained her lawyer for all those years and eventually got her out on parole," McArthur said.
More than 70 people listened to McArthur talk about the 18-year-long defense of Fugate. He read a section from his book and signed many for his fans.
"I've probably read everything you could find on it and there's a lot of bad book...his was really well done," Steve Pageler said. "You know out of all the ones I've read, I'd put his right at the top."
You can find the book at your local bookstore or on Amazon.com
