It's a crime that sounds eerily similar to the tale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". But police say this is no work of fiction. The real story is in even more bizarre.

A 20-year old woman arrives home to her apartment near 18th and N streets and finds a stranger inside, in her bed! It sounds like a nightmare, but police say that's what 40-year old Shawn Whitehorse did Thursday afternoon! Her next door neighbor, Brianna Williams, is shocked.
"That's kind of creepy. I'm glad then that she's okay because I would be--yikes," said Williams.

Robin Banks works next door to the apartment. She says she spotted Whitehorse just moments before the incident.

"I can't even imagine coming home to something like that, knowing I had just walked past this guy. Now that I've heard and seen who this person is and recognize him, it's very scary," said Banks.

Police say when the victim screamed at Whitehorse to get out, he just laughed at her. They say he was still snuggled up in bed by the time officers arrived. But it gets even weirder. Lincoln Police say when they got Whitehorse to the jail, they realized he was wearing some of the victim's jewelry, her pajama bottoms, and was carrying a bottle of her perfume. They say that's not all.
"Still missing from her apartment are a laptop computer, jewelry, and change from a change dish," said Officer Katie Flood.

Police say Whitehorse has been arrested several times for trespassing, even once before in the victim's building.  Now that something this disturbing has happened in the area, it has some thinking more about their surroundings.

"You cannot handpick or pull people out of hat or guess who is subject to do things like that," said Banks.
Whitehorse is facing a burglary charge. Police hope to find the victim's other missing items. The investigation is ongoing.
