UPDATE: A shooting in Louisville leaves one person fighting for his life and another on the run. Now police believe that suspect may be in the Lincoln area.
The shooting has left everyone in Louisville in shock, even local authorities.
"I guess in a rural area like Louisville, this doesn't happen that often," Capt. David Lamprecht with the Cass County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators say 64-year-old Steven Harrod shot one of his roommates in the face with a handgun at their home Monday night. The victim, Michael Green, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The manhunt continues in Lincoln. Harrod's pickup truck was found parked near 30th and U Streets in Lincoln. Matt Brethouwer lives right on that street corner and tipped police off to the truck.
"The only reason I knew about it was because it was parked right behind my driveway and wife noticed it was a 20-county plate and she thought it'd be gone by morning but when I got up it was still there," Brethouwer said.
It wasn't until a little later Tuesday morning that panic set in. He heard on the radio that police were searching for a white truck with Cass County plates.
"My wife is still home and a really good friend of mine lives across the street. His wife does daycare and I was actually scared for her. So I actually called him to call her and make sure that the doors were locked," Brethouwer said.
Finding the truck didn't ease any of his concerns. Police searched several homes in the area, but still did not find Harrod. Harrod is believed to be armed and dangerous. You're asked to call 911 if you see him.
Cass County Sheriff's Office have also released the name of the shooting victim.
The sheriff's office says they are still searching for 64-year-old Steven Harrod of Louisville in connection to the shooting of 32-year-old Michael A. Green, Monday night at a home in Louisville. The sheriff says it was believed Harrod fled to Lincoln.
The sheriff's office says Harrod's vehicle, a white, 1999 Ford F250 was recovered near 30th & U Streets in Lincoln. Lincoln Police searched several area homes in the area where his vehicle was located but Harrod was not found.
Green remains in critical condition. The sheriff says he had been shot in the face with a handgun.
Harrod is a white male, around 5'11 and weighs 185 pounds. The Cass County Sheriff's Office believes he is armed and dangerous. They warn anyone who has contact with him to call 911 immediately.
