OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A 15-year-old Omaha high school student faces expulsion for a year after taking a loaded handgun to school.
Police say another student told an officer at Northwest High School on Friday that a girl was showing the weapon to others. The officer found the girl in the school cafeteria, seized her purse and took her to the school's discipline office.
Police say the officer found a .45-caliber handgun in the purse. It had three rounds in its magazine.
Police say the girl told officers she didn't intend to harm anyone. She was arrested on suspicion of taking a firearm onto school grounds.
