A Norfolk teen has been recovering from a spinal cord injury since November, but this weekend his friends are cooking some pancakes for him.

Isaac Pfeifer, number 26 on the Norfolk Catholic football team, was in the middle of a playoff game vs. Fort Calhoun on November 6th when he made a life–changing tackle.

Pfeifer was airlifted to Omaha and went into surgery for injuries that could leave him paralyzed.

He has since been recovering at Madonna Rehab Center.

"I've made a lot of progress since the first day I got here," Isaac, 18, said. "I'm proud of myself for being able to just push myself everyday."

Isaac has made a lot of progress, and his friends have been fully supportive, organizing a benefit for the Pfeifer family on February 3rd.

Isaac said his friends are even cooking pancakes for the event.

"God knows what else they'll put in there," Isaac said.

Friends, neighbors, and even strangers have helped renovate the Pfeifer home into a handicap accessible one by installing wheelchair lifts and even an elevator.

"We have good friends and good family who have been helping out at home," Becky Pfeifer, Isaac's mother, said. "And we just trust them because my head is here."

Isaac said he is looking forward to going home and hanging out with his friends.

"It makes me feel really good just knowing that my friends would go out of their way to set up a benefit for me and all they've done," Isaac said. "Hearing how much people have donated to the auction, it's unbelievable."

Isaac's dad, Neil, said they are expecting about 1,000 people at the fundraiser this Sunday in Norfolk.

The fundraiser will be held on Sunday, February 3, at St. Mary's Parish Hall in Norfolk, NE from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

2300 Madison Avenue, Norfolk, NE.
