LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Lawmakers have scheduled hearings for proposed changes to Nebraska's school-aid formula.

The Legislature's Education Committee will hear testimony on the bills on Tuesday.

Lawmakers are expected to adjust the formula this year.

Under current law, state aid for schools is expected to grow by more than 10 percent during the next school year.

Lawmakers have said an increase that large is unrealistic.

Gov. Dave Heineman proposed a 5 percent annual increase in his two-year budget recommendations.

The committee's chairwoman, Sen. Kate Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, has previously said lawmakers will need be cautious as they decide how much to spend in state aid for schools.
