Lincoln police are still trying to piece together what led up to a Blair man's death over the weekend.

24-year-old Matthew Dutton was found in a downtown Lincoln parking garage stairwell early Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police report he may have fallen down the stairs. Officers are still giving interviews and looking through evidence.

"We are examining different angles of video surveillance to try to retrace his steps," LPD Officer Katie Flood said.

Dutton had once been a UNL student. Police have confirmed he had been drinking earlier in the night but aren't saying if alcohol played a role. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Lincoln police have released the name of a 24-year old man found dead in a downtown parking garage in the early morning hours Sunday.

Summer Ekstein describes what she saw from her hotel room across from the Que Place Parking Garage near 11th and Q streets.

"Policemen were everywhere. Then about 4 a.m. or so, is when we saw them taking the body out," said Ekstein.

Police say the body of 24–year old Matthew Dutton of Blair was found in the northwest corner stairwell. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police will not speculate as to whether foul play was involved.

"It's sad to know that you saw it before the family even knows what happened. I feel bad for any family that loses somebody," said Ekstein.

At this time, police aren't releasing many details. They say Dutton may have fallen down the stairs, but it's not known if anyone saw what happened. Police say they have surveillance video taken from the garage, and they're trying to piece everything together.

We have also learned that Matthew Dutton had once been a student at UNL. We've also learned he had a twin brother.

"I hope it was an accident. I hope his family is okay, and I hope everything is okay," said Ekstein.

Police say it'll be up to an autopsy to determine how Dutton died. They also say this is an ongoing investigation.
