LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ A 25-year-old Lincoln man accused of using a BB gun to shoot a woman four times in the head has been given 20 to 48 months in prison.
Blake Ruel was sentenced Thursday for terroristic threats. The hearing took place in Lancaster County District Court. Before his sentencing, Ruel said there was no excuse for what he did.
Ruel had pleaded no contest and was convicted after prosecutors lowered the charge from assault.
Police say officers found the woman unconscious outside Ruel's home on Aug. 30. Officers say he'd shot her in the forehead when she opened the front door, then three times in the back of her head when she ran. The pellets lodged under her skin.
Court records say Ruel had been smoking methamphetamine that night.
