March is American Red Cross month, and Friday the organization celebrated by announcing the expansion of their blood donation program in Lincoln.
Their facility out on Oak Creek is now a permanent place for blood donation. Pulling up your sleeve can save a life, lie that of cancer survivor Kelsi Swartzbaugh.
"I have received about 10 plus blood transfusions through my whole three years of receiving chemo therapy.
"It seriously touches my heart and it just makes me appreciate so much more all the people that really do come out and donate blood. I really do appreciate it," Swartzbaugh said.
Last year, the Red Cross provided blood products to 67 Nebraska hospitals and responded to 75 local emergencies.
