Two schools were placed under lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a report of a man armed with a gun in the area.
Lincoln police say they responded to a domestic assault near 48th and Judson at around 1:30 p.m. Police say a man fired shots and left the scene. A woman involved in the incident also left the scene and called police. No one was hurt in the shooting.
The incident prompted Lincoln Public Schools to lockdown nearby Pershing Elementary and Northeast High School. The lockdown lasted for about an hour.
Channel 8 Eyewitness News received many phone calls from concerned parents about the lockdown. LPS Security Director Bill Kuehn says the two schools were directed to send out a notification to parents about the lock down, especially because it happened close to dismissal time. Northeast parents received the notification. However, Kuehn says a computer issue prevented a message to Pershing parents.
The suspect remains at large.
