A Lincoln man is accused of causing enough trouble to force three school lockdown in two days.
30-year-old Chadrick Fitzgerald was taken into custody Thursday. Authorities say he shot at his girlfriend near 84th and Judson.
There's a sense of relief at Pershing Elementary - one of the three schools put in lockdown.
"I was picking my kids up early to go to an appointment and I took my baby and son and went to the doors and there were cops all over and they rushed us in and locked us in the nurse's office," Pershing Mom Amber Kuhnel said.
Just down the road, Northeast High School was also forced into a lock down. Then early Thursday, the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force got a tip that led them to Fitzgerald. He was spotted at the Waterbrook Apartment complex near 33rd and Superior.
Police say cooperating with law enforcement wasn't on his mind. Authorities say once Fitzgerald fled on foot, they set up a perimeter between Superior Street and North Star High School. That's when they brought in a K-9 unit and were able to track him to a storage closet on the third floor of the complex.
The manhunt led officials to lockdown nearby North Star High School. Authorities say they recovered a loaded firearm in a backpack that Fitzgerald dropped.
"Everybody involved did a really good job of basically taking a pretty dangerous guy off the streets and getting him into custody."
Authorities say Fitzgerald also had an outstanding federal warrant at the time of this arrest Thursday. He's facing multiple felony charges.
