Upcoming blood drives

The American Red Cross said about 44,000 pints of blood are needed in the U.S. every day.  The organization is making a plea to all Lincoln residents to take the time this spring to save a life by donating blood.  

According to the Red Cross, 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives.  So, the organization said they want to get the word out about regular blood donation.  Lincoln residents will have a chance to donate in April through the following Red Cross Blood Drives:

-Security First Bank, 5505 Red Rock Lane, Suite A
April 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Security First Bank, 5505 Red Rock Lane, Suite A
April 1 from 12-6 p.m.  
-College View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4015 S. 49th St.
April 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-Lincoln Lutheran High School, 1100 N. 56th St.
April 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, 40th and Holdrege
April 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-Nebraska Wesleyan University, 5000 St. Paul Ave
April 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1140 N. 14th St.
April 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
-Nebraska Weslyan University, 5000 St. Paul Ave.
April 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1140 N. 14th St.
April 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
-University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1140 N. 14th St.
April 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Blood is always needed.  Every 2 seconds someone has a blood transfusion, and every year, million patients in the U.S. need blood.

Several of the arrests also turned up other drugs including LSD, THC wax, and various pills. A canine officer assisted with two of the arrests. Police said this number of arrests is highly unusual for one night.More >>
