Police are investigating reports of gun shots near 25th and E. But they said this may not be an isolated incident.

Officers were called to the area around 10:30 Wednesday night.

Neighbors are now on high alert. One neighbor we spoke with did not want to be named, heard the shots fired.

"It was loud. It was like bam, bam, bam. Just really loud," the neighbor said.

Officers said shots were fired at two apartments, one of them was vacant. The residents of the other apartment heard the bullets and took cover.

"Two women were just five feet of where the bullets came to rest," Officer Katie Flood, Lincoln Police Department, said. "Fortunately they were not hurt."

The neighbor we spoke with said she heard the shots and thought someone was banging on her door.

"Come to the door, didn't see anything," she said. "That's when I thought it was gun shots."

Just two hours earlier, police were called to the same apartment for a domestic disturbance. No one involved in that was home during the shooting.

And on Monday, police were called to the same area for different reports of gun shots.

Now, neighbors are concerned about their safety.

"I've debated about moving out of the neighborhood because it's getting a little bit scarier all the time," the neighbor said.

Police aren't sure these incidents are related, but continue to look into them.
