Rex Burkhead had to wait until the final few picks of the sixth round before hearing his name called. The Cincinnati Bengals selected Burkhead with the 22nd pick in the sixth round (190th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Burkhead ended his Husker career as one of the most successful running backs in school history rushing for more than 3,400 yards and scoring 30 touchdowns.
A knee injury during his senior season, and a poor showing at the NFL Combine appeared as if they may have dropped Burkhead's draft status.
Burkhead is the first Husker picked in the NFL Draft.
