Lincoln Police say the threat was made in an Internet message board.
An email was sent out to Nebraska Wesleyan students, faculty and staff notifying them that the Lincoln Police and the FBI are investigating a message threatening a shooting on a Lincoln college campus later Friday.
Officer Katie Flood says the threat was made on a message board in a chatroom from another country. Flood says the threat has very low credibility.
Uniformed officers are patrolling the NWU campus. Students and staff have been instructed to be vigilant and contact campus security if they see anything unusual.
At UNL, campus police are also keeping an eye out for any unusual activity. UNL says notices were not sent out. However, if there is a real threat, information can be found at www.emergency.unl.edu.
Classes are no longer in session at UNL. The spring semester for Nebraska Wesleyan ends next week.
