Community Crops is all about helping gardeners grow healthy food. The non-profit group has been such a success here in Lincoln that it's expanding once again.
Soon the soil of Community Gardens around town will be tilled and seeds will be planted. The same goes for a brand new piece of land near 112th and Adams. It's a training farm called Prairie Pines. The new training farm is a collaborative effort between Community Crops and the University of Nebraska. Its ribbon cutting ceremony is Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
Community Crops started 10 years ago. Around 700 gardeners work the land at 13 community gardens scattered around the Capital City.
