Mueret Leads by Three, Judd Leads by Two, and Peers Makes Her First Hole-In-One

Nebraska City, Neb., - The opening of the PGA Junior Series, supported by Genesis Networks, event at ArborLinks started with cold fog, but ended with sunny skies and solid scores.

Sam Mueret of Brunswick, Neb., leads the boy's by two-strokes after an opening-round-score three-under 69.

"Overall today went well, other than a few bogeys," said Mueret. "I hit the ball well, sunk a few putts, and snuck in a few birdies which made it easy on me. I was hitting the ball well going into the tournament and I hope it continues."

Thomas Johnson of Norman, Okla., Cody Troutman of Edmond, Okla., Alex Pieper of Omaha, Neb., Sean Song of Omaha, Neb., and Andrew Huseman of Ankeny, Iowa, are tied for second, two-strokes back of Mueret.

Audrey Judd of Olathe, Kan., leads the girls' by three-strokes after opening with a 70. Judd, the 2013 Kansas High School 6A State Champion, continued her strong play into ArborLinks.

"I had a lot of birdies today," said Judd. "After winning State I felt really confident in my game and today I played well and made some putts, which really helped my round."

Jordan Chael of Overland Park, Kan., is tied for second with Brooke Ferrel of Edgerton, Wis., and Taylor Black of Warrensburg, Mo., after all opening with 73.

Vanessa Yan of Bradenton, Fla., and Haley Thiele of Wahoo, Neb., are tied for third at 74.

The shot of the day however, came from Tori Peers of Grand Island, Neb. Peers used gap-wedge on the par-3 3rd hole, which measured 125 yards and it was her first career hole-in-one.

"When I hit it I knew it going to be good when it came off the club," said Peers. "After I saw I hit it close, I saw that it went in and I was in pure shock and I was so excited."

After exciting opening-rounds at ArborLinks, there are sure to be exciting second-rounds tomorrow.
