Lincoln Police arrested a 44-year-old Lincoln man Monday night for assaulting his girlfriend and threatening to kill her two children.

Police Officer Katie Flood says Anthony Smedley punched his 34-year-old girlfriend repeatedly, bruising her chest, arms and legs.  Flood says he also had a butcher knife and threatened to kill her and her 13 and 14-year-old children.

Police say at around 11:30 p.m., the two teens escaped the house and went to a neighbor's to call 911.  Flood says the teens were taken upstairs by their mother who told them to escape through a window.

Police arrived at the house and tried to arrest Smedley.  Flood says he struggled.  She says Smedley accused his girlfriend of cheating on him.

Smedley was arrested for making terroristic threats, false imprisonment, using a weapon to commit a felony, two counts of child neglect, failing to comply and resisting arrest.
