(AP) Low-income seniors can once again buy fresh food through a farmers' market coupon program.

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture says the annual program has begun for the year. The program offers low-income seniors coupons to purchase fruit, vegetables, herbs and honey from state-certified vendors.

Department Director Greg Ibach says the program helps more than 5,000 seniors each year. Participants can use the coupons at certified farmers' markets, roadside stands and U-pick operations.

Coupons are available at Nebraska senior centers through June.

The program is in its 13th year. Officials say the 2013 program has received nearly $220,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Certified vendors can be found at www.agr.ne.gov.
