It's the one day a year when it's all about dads, and there's plenty of reasons to celebrate.
"It's important because we get to make him presents and stuff," says 8-year-old Hunt Boutin, who went to see the movie "Man of Steel" with his superhero, and football coach, his Dad.
Bill Irving, from Kansas City, spent the afternoon checking out the Haymarket with his kids.
For him, the day was all about taking time to enjoy family.
"Father's Day is a great day in the middle of the summer for me to have a little of a break and spend a little bit more time with the kids,"says Irving.
Chris Fujan took advantage of a free train ride at Lincoln's Children Zoo before heading to a museum with his wife and son.
"We sacrifice so much for our families and it's nice to have the day off and just be us," he says.
Just like on Mother's Day, the zoo is making sure all dads, even furry ones, are honored.
"There's a lot of dads that like to come out with their families, enjoy the zoo and we wanted to give them that same opportunity that we give mother's."
One of the many zoo dads is the African Dwarf Crocodile, who recently had a baby.
From enjoying brunch downtown, checking out the new Superman movie, or spending the day with the animals, Lincoln's dads weren't short of things to do.
