A candle light vigil was held on Thursday for 47-year-old Joyce Meeks.
She was killed Tuesday night at 18th and Van Dorn when the driver of a state-owned van crossed over the center line and hit her.
Family, friends, co-workers and the community came together to remember a woman they said put others before herself.
"Speechless, honestly," Antoria Lampkin said of her Mother-in-Law. "I don't know how to feel, I don't know how to think."
Family members led the group in songs and prayers and handed out candles to about 100 people who attended. Her son said he's touched.
"It means a lot," Martell Buchanan said. "Seeing my mom had a lot of friends, you know, that care about her enough to take time out of their day."
A fund has been set up at Wells Fargo in Joyce Meeks' name. The family welcomes any donations and they say the money will go to her husband, three children and ten grandchildren.
