Lincoln police say they are now looking for 2-3 suspects in a violent assault near 38th and L early Saturday morning.  20-year-old Nathan Walton remains in critical condition at a Lincoln hospital.

"I remember hearing loud voices, but I didn't think anything of it," says Pamela Lantzer.

Like other neighbors, she says she heard yelling and pounding early this morning.

The scene, still blood-soaked, left evidence of the violent assault.

Lantzer and her grandson were confused by the sounds just outside their door, and weren't sure what to do.

Lantzer's lived in her home for 12 years. Police showing up at her door this morning was the first sign of crime she's seen in the area.

"It really is disturbing to me to know that it happened right outside," she says.

Police say they got a call around 4:30 this morning after a neighbor witnessed the assault.

According to police, the Walton suffered a blunt force injury to the head, caused by a club-like object.

"I just hope whoever did it can be found and that the young man can pull through," says Lantzer's grandson, Jordan Greenlee.

Police say the person responsible for the assault is likely male, and fled the scene in a full size red pick-up truck with a ladder rack.

Officials are still gathering information.

Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call the Lincoln Police Department at (402)441-6000.
