Families enjoy Party in the Parks

Latrice Ingram heard there was a party at Union Plaza today.

"Some friends told us that this event was going on and we though it sounded fun for the kids and the weather's beautiful so we decided to come," she said.

More than 700 people filled the plaza, many being children. Multiple kid friendly activities won over families.

Arts and crafts along with a rubber ducky race were popular, but it was no competition which booth stood out the most.

"I got a doggie balloon," 5-year-old Alysa Haskell said.

Lincoln Parks and Rec says the children's activities and entertainment are showing off what Lincoln has to offer.

 "We've got over 25 different theater companies in Lincoln, hundreds of artists, dozens of galleries, more than 250 bands and this is just a way to kind of bring it all together and heighten people's awareness of all the things there are to do in the city of Lincoln," organizer Brendan Wamstad-Evans said.

Which will have many families coming back for more.

Ingram says she's bringing the kids to the next Party in the Park.

"We love anything that they love to do, the wide open space they can run and get a lot of energy out, so it was fun," she said.

 The  next party is scheduled for July 27.
