According to Lincoln police, four teenagers have been arrested for recent home burglaries. Three of the teens, all 18-years-old, are in jail, and the 17-year-old involved was taken to a youth correction facility.
Jonathan Mundo, Mark Fotopulos, Tayler Woods and the 17-year-old were arrested for five burglaries that occurred earlier this week. Fotopulos and Woods face an additional arson charge.
"All four have been located and lodged in jail," Officer Katie Flood said. "Three 18-year-olds have been lodged in Lancaster County jail and the 17-year-old has been taken to the youth detention center."
Police said in one case, a victim's car was stolen and later set on fire. They said the finger prints on that steering wheel were linked to Woods.
Officers then said Fotopulos, Mundo and the 17-year-old also tried to pawn a computer stolen during that same northeast Lincoln burglary. In all five burglaries this week, the victims were at home when the crimes occurred.
"We haven't really had a lot of robbery here," a neighbor said. "And to think they came in when she was sleeping."
Police said one victim needed stitches in his nose after being attacked by the suspects with a video game system before they ran off. In unsettling situations like this, Officer Flood said knowing justice has been served will help ease the victims' minds.
"It brings closure and peace to those people involved knowing that other people throughout town are not going to be victimized by this group," Flood said.
Police said many of the items have been recovered, including three guns. The investigation is ongoing; police are still trying to recover the rest of the stolen belongings.
