Big time Hollywood star Matt Damon made a stop at the University of Nebraska's city campus Wednesday.

He came to Lincoln with his nephew who's enrolling at UNL this fall.

"This is a chance to kind of hang out for 24 hours and walk around the town a little bit," Damon said.

He took the time to meet with fans outside the student union, posing for pictures and shaking hands with excited students.

Social media outlets were flooded with posts about the Academy Award winner and the girls around campus were on the lookout.

"I love Matt Damon," UNL Senior Natalie Marcuzzo said.  "I think he's a really great actor.  He's very handsome, definitely my mom's type."

"I think he's really hot," UNL Junior Becca Lang said.  "I'd probably go up to him and ask if I could have a picture."

Damon accompanied his nephew to New Student Enrollment Day.  They were on campus for several hours touring the Nebraska Union and other buildings.  He says he and his nephew both love the campus and are impressed with the layout.

"He's a freshman and I remember that feeling and how overwhelming it can feel and he said, 'You know, it's big but it's not overwhelming and it's just set up really well.'"

Damon made sure to stop at the University Bookstore to stock up on Husker gear.

"I've been in the store already.  I got stuff for all my kids at home.  I basically bought out the store."

Damon has starred in several Blockbusters including the Ocean's trilogy, Bourne series and Good Will Hunting to name a few.

Even though he grew up on the east coast and attended Harvard, he says he will still cheer on his nephew's new school's team.
