Lincoln Police have identified the 23-year-old UNL student critically injured while riding his bike early Monday.  Police say Isra Somanas was riding his bike eastbound on West O Street at around 2 a.m. Monday when he was hit by a car driving in the same direction.  The accident happened near SW 40th on West O.

Somanas, a chemical engineering student,  was rushed to the hospital. Police say he remains in critical condition. Somanas is a native of Thailand.

Police say the 23-year-old driver of the car was not injured.  They say he told officers he didn't see the bicycle until it was too late and he tried to stop.
