Five Lincoln charities received nearly $24,000 on Monday as part of Honda of Lincoln's 40th anniversary.

General Manager Eric Olsen said the dealership wanted to give back to the community that made it so successful.

"Lincoln is a great place to do business, a great place to live, and these charities do great work here and we wanted to be a part of that," Olsen said.

The donations came from car sales in May and Jube. For each of the 500 cars sold, $50 were put aside. That amounts to a check for $4,850 for each charity, including the Food Bank of Lincoln, Capital Humane Society, Christian Heritage, People's City Mission and Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach.

Susanne Blue with Matt Talbot told us that check can pay for nearly 2,000 meals.

"Every little bit helps and this is a huge boost to us in the summer," Blue said.

The dealership also displayed information about these charities during May and June to help raise awareness for the organizations.
