The Minnesota Golden Gophers had arguably the Big Ten's biggest turnaround from 2011 to 2012 posting 6 wins in Jerry Kill's second year. The Gophers also played in their first bowl game in three seasons falling to Texas Tech.
They haven't posted an 8–win season since 2003 when they won 10, and a glance at their schedule would appear that streak will likely continue for one more year, but Minnesota has taken some steps toward relevancy in the Big Ten.
They return seven starters on offense and six on defense. One of those returners on offense and the key to the 2013 squad is Donnell Kirkwood. The junior tailback started all 13 games and rushed for 926 yards a year ago.
The Huskers will play at TCF Stadium on October 26. Another game worth checking out will be September 28's game against Iowa.
