Gage County authorities said Pinnacle Bank near 6th and Lincoln in Beatrice was robbed around 10:00 Friday morning.
Beatrice officials said a man walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. After receiving money, he took off in a car being driven by another man.
Diane Weishahn, a Pinnacle Bank customer, stopped by the bank and said she suspected something was wrong when she saw police cars.
"To stop there and to know that the police send you on is just kind of frightening," Weishahn said.
Gage County deputies spotted the suspects in a green van on highway 77 about 14 miles north of Beatrice.
"We found evidence inside the vehicle that would link them to the crime, so we were able to take them into custody," Lt. Mike Oliver of the Gage County Sheriff's Office said.
Officials say the driver of the van, 35-year-old Gilbert McCabe of Lincoln was not charged, but was taken in custody by his parole officer.
According to officials, 31-year-old Lucius Turner is believed to have robbed the bank. Turner was on work release from the Nebraska Department of Corrections at the time of the robbery. He is charged with robbery and use of a weapon during commission of a felony.
He is being held at Gage County Jail.
While some people in Beatrice are still shaken up, others brush the robbery off as a one time thing.
"I just think it was one of those fluke things that's kind of stupid," Lorraine Deglobber said.
Officials say the majority of the money has been recovered.
