Hundreds of UNL graduate students made history today, they became the first class to receive diplomas in Lincoln's newest landmark.
"I like the lights and everything's clean, new, it's fresh so it'll be great for the community," graduate David Taylor said.
The people cheering them on also got a sneak peek.
"It's a beautiful facility, I can't believe it's here in Lincoln. I've already taken pictures with my cell phone and sent it to my friends," Nash Roehr said.
Though the new arena was exciting to see, some say it didn't take away from the reason everyone was there: to celebrate these graduates' next step in life.
"It's a huge relief and this is the final stage for my degree, so to be here is finally you can feel you can celebrate in your mind that you have met what you have set out to do," Taylor said.
As Taylor gets ready to use his degree in school psychology, he says he'll always remember he was one of the first to graduate in the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
"It's a great feeling, it's history," he said.
