Lincoln is making a name for itself as the top digital city in Nebraska. On Monday, it claimed the 2013 Google eCity award for the state.
Google gives the award out each year to one city per state that has the most online use in business.
Mayor Chris Beutler, Sen. Deb Fischer and other local leaders met at Licorice International in the Haymarket to celebrate Monday afternoon.
"We're proud that Lincoln came out on top," Mayor Beutler said. "But we know that it took a lot of hard work and focus on the part of many people to get there."
Google chooses the award based on its evaluation of websites, online presence and digital sales.
