A 14-year-old goes on an overnight joyride in west Lincoln, running over mailboxes and slamming his vehicle into a parked car.  The path of destruction ended when the young driver jumped out of the moving car and took off running.  Police said after he ditched the vehicle, it glided down an embankment and came to a stop at the front of an office building near SW 14th and West A streets.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on Tuesday.  Police report the 14-year-old driver took his parental guardians' car on a joyride.  Officers said the boy took out multiple mailboxes on SW 10th and then smashed into a parked car, which hit another car, pushing it into a tree.

Officials said after the teen jumped out of the vehicle, police chased him and found the teen hiding under a parked car.  The 14-year-old faces multiple charges including hit and run, fleeing to avoid arrest and failure to comply.
