Tailgaters take over new Pinnacle Bank Arena lot

It wouldn't be game day in Nebraska without a little (or a lot) of tailgating.

Husker fans are getting comfortable in their newest tailgating spot: the 'festival lot' just north of the Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Even with the pedestrian bridge still under construction, tailgaters say they're enjoying their new digs.

"You get a great view of Pinnacle Bank [Arena] and you get a great view of Memorial Stadium so, it's pretty awesome," tailgater Nathan Rasmussen said.

The lot is still looking a little sparse compared to other tailgating spots, but some tailgaters like Brian Bullington say it's bound to fill up before long.

"I think it will, I think this again is a prime location, we get the pedestrian bridge built, get that goin', so that's going to make things a lot easier for people here," Bullington said.

The parking lot has about 1,400 tailgating spots, only about 500 of which have been sold.

"It's fairly spread out right now, which is good, got a lot more open space," Bullington said.

Most people say they reserved their spots back in March.

At about $500 per car, Husker fans get their lot for the season plus a package with enough food for four people each game.
