Homecoming is right around the corner for many Lincoln high schools, and if you still don't have a dress, the Lincoln Northeast cheerleaders want to sell you one for a fraction of the cost.

The LNE cheer boosters are selling about 200 new or gently used dresses for under $30 each. The dresses were all donated, and all proceeds will go toward the squad.

Booster moms say they got the idea for the fundraiser as some of their girls were shopping for homecoming. Things can get expensive.

"This will help somebody be able to afford to maybe go get their hair nicely done in a beauty salon, or go get their nails done," booster mom Christie Jackson said.

"We want to help other people by giving them the opportunity to find a homecoming dress, just like every other girl," LNE cheerleader Destiny Dewald said.

The event starts at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Alternative Tan located near 84th and Holdrege streets.

Dresses, shoes and accessories will be sold until 8 p.m.
