Lincoln now has another hot spot to watch Husker football. Hundreds of fans piled into the Railyard Saturday to watch the game on the new "Cube."
The "Cube" is a $750 thousand wrap–around big screen, stretching 14 feet tall and 40 feet wide where it faces the yard.
"Right now I like it here because it's open," Greg Bortsche said. "Like I said, there's a nice breeze."
"Less crowded and you could actually see the big screen," Lindsay Olson added.
But while some fans said coming out to the Railyard to watch the game is a good alternative, others said it doesn't beat the feel of being in Memorial Stadium.
"Second best, " A.J. Splittgerber said. "The stadium is obviously the best. I got season tickets to the south stadium."
Although all the bars and restaurants in the Railyard are not open yet, fans can still mingle in the open area with any food or beverages purchased in the places that are open. And fans said being around good friends, good food and plenty of drinks is an added bonus.
"Great atmosphere, everyone's cheering along," Splittgerber said. "Everyone's having a good time, it's awesome."
Currently, there are three businesses open in the Railyard including Buffalo Wings & Rings, Gate 25 and Hiro 88.
Railyard officials said others are expected to open next week.
