The Nebraska State Patrol says a driver was flown by helicopter to the hospital after an accident on I-80.

Officials say the driver, 43-year-old John D. Brown from Allegan, Mich. was headed westbound on I-80 in a Dodge Journey when his car ran into the back of a semi- truck.

The accident happened just after midnight Monday near mile marker 406 between 56th street and North 70th.

The front of the Dodge Journey was crushed in and the drivers' side door torn open.  The driver and passenger of the semi were not injured.

Brown is currently in fair condition.

State Patrol officials say they're still investigating the cause of the accident.
