STATEMENT FROM CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF LINCOLN:

The family of the Pius X student injured in this morning's attack has confirmed that she underwent surgery at Bryan West to treat multiple injuries following the incident.  The surgery has concluded successfully and she is now resting with her family.  The family has asked for prayers for all involved.

Pius X high school held a small prayer service for those students close to the victim.  Several Lincoln-area priests participated.  The school will plan for other prayer services as the situation unfolds.

The school's counselors have been available to students throughout the day.  They, and counselors from Catholic Social Services, will continue to be available to students who need some assistance.

Lincoln Police are looking for 16-year-old Sarah Piccolo for her involvement in the stabbing this morning at Lincoln Pius X High School.  Police say she may be driving a gray 1992 Buick Park Avenue (Nebraska plate #TJM 557).  Sarah is a white female, 5'5", 105 pounds with brown hair.  Call police immediately with any information.

Also, Pius officials are urging parents of students to check their emails regarding the situation at school.

Lincoln Police say a female Lincoln Pius X High School student was attacked by another student Monday morning.  Officer Katie Flood says the 17-year-old victim has cuts to her face, but her injuries are not life-threatening.  Flood says the victim told police the suspect is a female student.  Police say the incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. in a girl's bathroom inside the school.

The school is under lock down as police try to locate the suspect.  Police say they are searching the school room by room.  Nearby schools, including Lincoln East High, were under lock down.

This is a developing story, we'll have more information as it becomes available.
