Lincoln's brand new race course and sports bar & grill located off Highway 77 and W. Denton Road has left its customers with nothing but positive remarks.
"They have better monitors, and the food's a lot better than it was at the fair grounds," Bruce Sweney said.
"Even if you're not winning, people around might be winning," Steve Gohde added. "It provides an energy, and the energy in that atmosphere is fun."
The new facility has been open for a little more than two weeks. General manager Christy Harris said it includes a full–service restaurant and sports bar, which were not available at the old location. She said in addition to the 200 TVs that simulcast the races, the facility also broadcasts sporting events like Monday Night Football among others to draw in a wider crowd.
"Having them come out and enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy the food the way they are is exciting," Harris said.
Harris said with the new facility up and running, phase one is officially complete. Eventually they plan to have a grandstand, 1,000 stalls for horses and a mile–long track on 120 acres, which is something Harris thinks will put the facility over the top.
"We want the industry to keep moving forward," Harris said. "That's why we hope to get the track here as soon as we can because it affects so many people's lives."
Right now, Harris said they're looking into fundraising opportunities needed to build the track. She said it's expected to be complete in the next few years.
